True love's path ran smooth and flat
To a lovers bed and that was that
But before you can say “happy ever after”
The Happy Valley dreams are disappearing along with the laughter
Where were you when the dream was stretched out before me?
You know it takes too long to tell a short story
You know how it goes with the passing of time
You made your promises and I made mine
But ask yourself did the bells toll or did they chime
Beause you find yourself returning again just like a suspect and a crime
Well you could tell me the facts but I’m sure that you’d bore me
Cause it takes too long to tell a short story
Tell yourself you’re better off having never had it
Then you can hold on to the dream
of how good
it could
have been
One more thing I want to add
No one ever sets out to be intentionally bad
Fear of intimacy, fear of commitment,
imposter syndrome and all of that shit
Combined over time to undermine
everything and anything we ever thought thatwe knew about it
All that time we thought that we were headed for glory
I never wanted anyone to kneel down and adore me
Put it in a letter even better if you read it for me
Because it takes too long to tell a short story
